Property Taxes in Chile: The Municipal and Fiscal Impacts of Reform

Studies exempting older adults from Chile's property tax (contribuciones), which would shrink the paying base from 25% to 17% of properties. It estimates a fiscal adjustment on the order of USD 200 million — rising toward USD 300 million within five years as the population ages — and proposes better targeting and a review of the measure.

Building Valparaíso: Proposals to Address the Housing Deficit

Chile faces a construction bottleneck in which supply restrictions make social-housing development in metropolitan areas nearly impossible. The study puts forward four proposals: density bonuses for social housing, in-situ relocation (micro-radicación) in consolidated neighborhoods, regulatory incentives, and regional planning for metropolitan areas.
